Rat Distortion Pedal
A guitar question: distortion?
Well I have an Epiphone SG with Seymour Duncan pills and a Valve King amp into a Marshall cab decent. I'm after a more powerful distortion. The distortion of the valve king is great, but I want something … How can I say? More loud and clean sound. I play in a punk band and I want something that sounds a bit more unpleasant than the distortion of the king of the valve that has a good metal sound. played with a distortion pedal from friends and it seemed wrong, but has one very cheap. So my question? What would a quality distortion pedal (Pro Co Rat, Tubescreamer or something similar) change the guitar sound when used with distortion and in my Valve King. Ideally, I felt better for a guitar and amplifier, but cash is limited, so I think a distortion pedal of quality is the way forward. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
Adding a distortion pedal at channel distortion on the amplifier is only going to make the problem worse. If you are looking for a noisier, less metal sound that actually want less distortion. Try turning down the gain before the head and pushing the input gain. This gives a rough sound, while letting all the notes in your playing chords come through clearly. The other option is to run a pedal through distorition its clean channel. The Boss DS-1 is a good basic distortion pedal and only costs about $ 40.
